Saturday mornings are dedicated to our young ballroom and Latin American dancers. Children are encouraged to take part in classes and fun dances, structured around the IDTA medal scheme. Whilst the classes are always fun, the children gradually build up their skill set and have the opportunity to take medal tests at various intervals through the year, to achieve rosettes, medals and trophies for their continued development.

More about our classes

Baby Ballroom Rosettes: For our youngest dancers our classes follow the International Dance Teachers Association Rosette scheme. Working their way through all the Ballroom & Latin American dances as well as some fun warm up party dances this class is perfect for budding ballroom stars.

Stardancers: As children reach 8/9 years old they are welcome to join our star dance class, based around the IDTA Stardance awards. Routines become more challenging and a few new dances are introduced.

Bronze/ Silver/ Gold and Above; Our two hour Ballroom and Latin American class is split into smaller groups enabling older children to take their IDTA grades in both styles. Starting at Bronze level, children learn about technique, performance and style for all the dances as seen on Strictly!

What does my child need to wear for the Ballroom and Latin American classes?

For all ballroom & latin American children’s classes we encourage appropriate clothing to be worn. Leggings and t shirts are the most suitable. No jeans for any classes. We have Cadmans T shirts, Zoodies and Joggers for sale. Please speak to a member of the Cadmans team if you wish to purchase any of these.

Footwear; Dance shoes are required once your child has been coming a few weeks to the classes. Girls under 12 must wear cuban heeled dance shoes (no high heels), girls over 12 can wear higher heeled ballroom and latin shoes. Boys black dance shoes are encouraged. We can assist with styles of dance shoes and recommend retailers. Please speak to a member of the Cadmans team if you need any help.

Does my child need to bring anything to the class?

We have a tuck shop which is open during the short break in classes. Dancers can buy drinks, crisps, sweets and chocolate. If you would prefer to bring a snack please keep it small and no hot food is allowed in the studio.

When will my child take their exam?

We run 3 IDTA medal tests a year; usually March, July and November. If your child is ready for their exam they will receive an examination form in their class a month before. This will need to be returned to the studio with the exam payment before the deadline date. The exams take place on Sundays at the studio.

Do I stay for the classes with my child?

We encourage children to be left for the duration of the class. Parents/carers are welcome to stay for the first class they attend. We take emergency contact details for all children so if there is any problems we can give you a ring.

Do the teachers hold qualifications?

All or our teachers our either fully qualified professional dance teachers or currently student teachers in training. All of our over 18 assistants and teachers are DBS checked.
